A powerful tribute to one of history’s most legendary armies, the Lladró Archers Frieze Vase Sculpture transports us more than 2,500 years back in time to the grandeur of the Persian Empire. Inspired by the celebrated Frieze of Archers from the palace of Darius I in Susa (522–486 BC), this limited edition High Porcelain masterpiece merges ancient history with contemporary porcelain artistry.
Known as “The Immortals”, the archers of the Persian royal guard symbolized discipline, honor, and unmatched military prowess. As chronicled by the Greek historian Herodotus, Persian children were taught only three things: to ride horses, to shoot arrows, and to tell the truth—principles reflected in the noble bearing and refined decoration of this sculptural vase.
The cylindrical vase is richly embellished with horizontal relief bands depicting archers armed with spears, quivers, and bows, each figure meticulously modeled in high relief. The surface is enhanced with a sophisticated polychrome palette of green, brown, yellow, and white lacquer, echoing the vivid tiles of the original ancient frieze. The warriors’ embroidered tunics, ornate bracelets, earrings, and colorful turbans are rendered with remarkable precision, creating a rhythmic and monumental visual narrative around the vessel.
Finished in gloss porcelain, this sculpture functions both as a decorative vase and as a museum-quality historical artwork, making it a striking focal point in refined interiors or curated collections.
